There are many stories about how Øster Farimagsgade – which loosely translates to “Eastern Farewell Street” – got its name, and most of them circle back to King Christian IV. Legend has it that one day a farmer was driving down the street and refused to give way to the King’s carriage, forcing the royal coachman into the verge. As the two passed each other, the King greeted the stubborn farmer with the words: “Far i mag, my good man!” And ever since, generations have walked up and down this street – and, in more recent years, popped in for sushi in Østerbro.
