What is International Sushi Day?
International Sushi Day was created to celebrate the beloved Japanese cuisine that has captured hearts across the globe. It’s a day for sushi lovers to come together and share their appreciation for fresh fish, seasoned rice, and the artistry of Japanese craftsmanship.
Sushi’s roots go far back in history. Originally, fish was preserved by salting it and storing it in fermented rice. Once the fermentation process was complete, the fish was eaten raw while the rice was discarded. Over time, this preservation technique evolved into the sushi we know today – a dish that has since spread to every corner of the world.
