TERRACES IN BERLIN

When the sun comes out, Berlin heads outdoors. Long sushi lunches become longer, afternoon drinks turn into evening plans, and every terrace suddenly feels like the place to be. Luckily, we've got three of them.

Restaurants with terraces:

• Kantstraße: For long lunches and even longer dinners. Settle in, order another round and let the afternoon do its thing.

• Potsdamer Straße: For lunch breaks that deserve a little more attention. Sushi, sunshine and front-row seats to city life.

• Torstraße: For people-watching, catch-ups and spontaneous plans that somehow last all day.

Whether you're after a quiet lunch, after-work drinks or dinner in the evening sun, there's a terrace with your name on it.

Some meals need a table. Others are better enjoyed on a blanket.

Pick up your favourite rolls and sticks to go, then head somewhere green. Whether you're spending the afternoon in Tiergarten, finding a quiet spot in Volkspark am Weinbergsweg or stretching out at Tempelhofer Feld, sushi travels surprisingly well in the sunshine.

Our guide to sushi picnic in Berlin

• Pick up from Torstraße and head to Volkspark am Weinbergsweg. If you're up for a slightly longer stroll, Mauerpark is a favourite for sunny afternoons, people-watching and impromptu gatherings.

• Grab sushi from Potsdamer Straße and find a patch of grass in Tiergarten. Or follow the water to the Landwehrkanal and let the afternoon drift by.

• Collect your order from Kantstraße and settle into Savignyplatz. If you're in the mood for a longer stroll, make your way to Lietzensee and enjoy your sushi by the water.
